This role forms a key operational interface between departmental based research administration staff and centrally based Research Finance. Its primary focus is supporting Faculty based departmental staff through helping the Faculty Finance Manager through provision of non EU research related financial management information and advice.

The role directly involves provision of sound financial support, to departments, helping them ensure that their external research funding achieves the research objectives specified by the sponsor’s terms and conditions. The role requires the holder to be able to draw upon on a sound working knowledge of existing central operations and combining this with a closer operational understanding of specific departmental/faculty practices with the objective of helping maximise research administration effectiveness within the Faculty.

This post provides an excellent and challenging opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant, ideally with experience of working within the finance function of a large organisation.

Strong communication skills are essential as you will liaise with sponsors, senior academics and other colleagues within the University. You will have the ability to work effectively as part of a team, but will also be confident with working independently and on your own initiative.

You should possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with a proven ability to innovate. The ability to deal calmly, quickly and efficiently with an unpredictable workload is essential, as is a willingness to question, learn and apply new practices.
