Job description
 The Faculty of Arts of the University of Groningen invites applications for the position of full professor of Modern and Contemporary Art.

The new full professor will:

  • provide leadership, motivation and supervision to the staff of the Chairgroup Modern Art
  • make a strong and inspiring contribution to (the development of) our educational programmes in the field of Modern Art, at BA, MA and PhD levels
  • supervise PhD theses
  • coordinate and conduct research in the field
  • acquire external funding for research
  • perform administrative and organizational duties within and potentially outside the Faculty.

Requirements
 The applicant must:

  • have a PhD in the field of Modern Art (after 1945)
  • have a track record of outstanding, internationally recognized research, with publications in leading journals
  • have demonstrated the ability to acquire external research funds and supervise/co-supervise PhD theses
  • have excellent organizational and teaching skills
  • have the capacity to cooperate
  • be fluent in English and have a good knowledge of Dutch, or be willing to learn this language within two years
  • be willing to take up residence in or near the city of Groningen.

Conditions of employment
 This is a full-time, tenured position at the level of professor 2, beginning as soon as possible. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, the salary will range between (minimum) € 4,953 and (maximum) € 7,213 gross per month for a full-time appointment (CAO-Dutch Universities).
