Description The University of Gloucestershire is seeking an exceptional leader to become Head of our School of Sport and Exercise.
The University has a long and distinguished record of provision in Physical Education, Recreation, Sport, Exercise and Physical Activity, and the School of Sport & Exercise has developed to become one of the largest in the UK with almost 1400 students, including over 200 studying at postgraduate and doctoral level. The University has recently designated Sport, Exercise & Wellbeing as an area of research excellence, and the School's contribution to this priority research area is significant.
We are seeking a leader who can build on our traditions, ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning for students, and show flair, energy and innovation in developing our academic portfolio.
We are looking for a Head of School who can identify and capitalise on opportunities for business development, further develop our research capacity, and create networks and partnerships with external agencies, to build our reputation and improve the experience of students.
You will be highly credible in the field of Sport and Exercise and have an excellent track record of scholarship. We are looking for someone with exceptional leadership and management skills, and a commitment to achieving outstanding quality.
The School is part of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. You will work with other Heads of School on cross-faculty initiatives, exploring options for interdisciplinary working and collaboration, and will take a leadership role on a cross-cutting aspect of Faculty business.
For suitable candidates with evidence of achievement commensurate with appointment at Professorial level, the title of Chair will be available.
