HPC Support Officer

The Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (FEPS) at the University of Surrey seek to recruit a High Performance Computing (HPC) Support Officer to join the faculty IT team to provide direct support to academic researchers and students. The faculty has an extensive IT infrastructure including several HPC installations at various stages in their lifecycle.
Responsibilities Include:
- Configuration, support, maintenance and administration of all HPC resources within the faculty.
- Providing support including maintenance, optimisation and expansion of all HPC data storage and file systems.
- Providing and maintaining end-user and system administration documentation.
- Assisting in the design and implementation of new HPC resources.
- Managing collaboration with other HPC resources.
- Monitoring and reporting of HPC system availability and capacity.
Technical Requirements:
- Minimum of two years UNIX/Linux systems administration experience.
- Good working knowledge of configuring and optimizing workload schedulers, resource managers and parallel file systems.
- Experience of using parallel programming languages and techniques (e.g. MPI) would be advantageous.
You will require a university or equivalent degree in an IT-related or scientific discipline, excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
