Job Description
We are seeking an outstanding scholar in any branch of Visual Culture studies whose research is compatible with current visual culture research taking place in the seven departments of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities https://www.dur.ac.uk/arts.humanities/. The successful candidate will be a member of an academic department, but will also play a leading role in the further development of the Centre for Visual Arts and Culture (CVAC). Bringing together researchers in visual culture from across the University, CVAC has already attracted substantial investment in academic posts and support infrastructure. Its priority is to develop innovative connections and interdisciplinary dialogue, promote postgraduate research, and work in partnership with museums, galleries, and other external partner organisations to make Durham a centre of excellence for research in the field. The Centre offers an exciting opportunity to lead and shape visual culture research within Durham and beyond. Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in the University.
