As well as maintaining academic excellence, considerable emphasis is placed on personal development and transferable skills that are so critical to today’s employers. Over 80% non-UK postgraduate students from all over the world are currently studying at Durham University Business School and therefore we are committed to maintaining a diverse and multicultural working environment.
Whilst developing and delivering innovative and interactive workshops, you will establish and maintain strong relationships with academic colleagues, careers staff and support departments such as disability, counselling and the international office. You will also build occupational knowledge through research and development of relationships with employers who recruit Business School masters students nationally and internationally.
You will also be required to develop careers guidance services for international students (EU & non –EU) by developing effective careers guidance approaches and information resources that reflect the varying needs and expectations of students from a diverse range of cultures and societies. This will require excellent research skills when identifying and advising on opportunities within the global graduate recruitment market.
The post will involve some overseas travel in order to develop effective and long term relationships with employers interested in recruiting DBS Masters students. The role therefore demands well developed customer relationship skills and the ability to develop ‘cold’ leads with contacts at senior levels within international organisations. Key to this is working with alumni in the UK and abroad who may in their roles within companies be anxious to offer employment opportunities to Durham students.
A degree is essential as is having a postgraduate professional qualification in careers guidance.
