Cardiff University -Cardiff School of Engineering
Applications are invited for a researcher position within the BRE Institute of Sustainable Engineering at Cardiff University.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated researcher with a postgraduate qualification (including MSc and/or PhD) to join an established team of academics and researchers. The post-holder will work on the BD2050 project, funded by the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). The project team members will work closely with the Governments of UK and Bangladesh, in particular UK DECC and Bangladesh Ministry of Power, as well as several partners from Bangladeshi and UK universities and energy sector stakeholders. There may also be opportunities for travel to Bangladesh on collaborative visits.
The successful candidate should have an MSc / PhD either in Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Computer science, or related areas; a good background in statistical analysis, energy and carbon emissions scenario modelling; and programming skills (including Microsoft Excel Macro and VBA).
It is expected that the successful candidate will continue to build upon his / her international reputation by publishing papers and attending top conferences, while contributing to the development of 2050 energy and carbon emissions scenario.
The post is for an initial period until 30 June 2014. There is potential for extension.
