Supporting Early Career Teachers in the development of inclusive pedagogy

The Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge (http://www.educ.cam.ac.uk/) is a leading international centre for educational research and teacher development.

We are looking for a part-time Research Assistant to work for the equivalent of 30 days over the period of the contract between June 2013 and September 2014. The majority of the work will take place from September 2013 when data collection commences.

You will join a research team to work on a project which aims to support primary Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in their development of inclusive pedagogy, with particular attention to understanding the educational implications of children's experiences of diversity and belonging. Locally linked collaborative groups of ECTs will be established working in partnership with the research team and senior school leaders. Data will mainly be gathered through teacher workshops to examine how ECTs build knowledge about inclusive pedagogy through dialogue about their practice. Dialogue with the children and school leaders will be facilitated by the research team through school visits. Workshop materials will also be developed for wider use by teacher educators.

Applicants should be familiar with current practice in primary schools, and preferably should hold a Master's degree in a relevant area of education. Fuller details of post responsibilities and person specifications are provided in the further particulars.
