Full Time: The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £32,375 - £39,132 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position to join the laboratory of Professor Peter Taylor to work on the impact of colonization of the neonatal gastrointestinal tract by neuropathogenic Escherichia coli on host innate defences. The successful candidate will examine the effect of colonization on neonatal tissue development in an in vivo model of infection and examine novel strategies for the prophylaxis and treatment of bacterial infection.

The position is supported by the Medical Research Council and is funded for three years in the first instance.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in the area of microbiology, biochemistry or a related discipline with experience of working with models of infection. The job requires a good team worker with the ability to work independently. Additional expertise in microscopy is advantageous and experience in histochemistry would be welcome.
