University of Exeter 2013 EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowships in Engineering

University of Exeter -College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences

(Ref. P44334)

Scheme overview

The EPSRC Doctoral Prize scheme aims to provide career development to the most able students to develop them beyond the end of their PhD, to help launch a successful career in research. Successful applicants will be expected to take their research to the next level and must undertake significant new research. The Prize should not be viewed merely as an opportunity to continue/complete PhD work. The Doctoral Prize aims to develop independent researchers and applicants are encouraged to move into new areas of research and demonstrate the ability to work independently from their former PhD supervisor. The positions will be awarded in research areas in Engineering.

Eligible applicants must have submitted a PhD (viva does not need to have taken place), which was supported by EPSRC in the form of fees and/or stipend, before the Doctoral Prize start date. Applications from women, who are currently under-represented in this area, will be particularly welcome; however, the final recruitment decision will be based solely on merit.

Award value and duration

This post is available for 12 months. A Doctoral Prize stipend of £24,520 per annum and £6,000 per annum in research expenses.
