Two postdoctoral research associate positions are available to undertake research in the field of high voltage aerospace systems – specifically with regards the use of coatings on power electronic circuit boards to manage electrical discharge. The project will require one Research Associate to be placed in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering carrying out high voltage testing and analysis. The other Research Associate will be placed in the School of Materials and will focus on the degradation of the coatings.

Applicants for the post in Electrical and Electronic Engineering should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in electrical engineering. Previous research experience in aerospace systems or power systems or high voltage which is experimental in nature is essential.

Applicants for the post in Materials should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in Material Science – ideally involving significant experimental activity. Expertise in a range of materials characterisation techniques including X-Ray diffraction, electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy is essential.
