Data Analytics Lead (CAMHS PbR)
Anna Freud Centre
The CAMHS EBPU (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Evidence Based Practice Unit) is looking to recruit a Data Analytics Lead for the CAMHS Payment by Results (PbR) Project that is currently underway. This is a national service development project working with over 20 CAMH services across England to find out the best ways of implementing a payment by results system in CAMHS which means developing a payment system that links payment to assessed need and anticipated resource usage required to achieve a positive outcome (see CAMHS PbR website for further details on the project http://www.pbrcamhs.org/).
The post-holder’s role will be to lead on the development of modelling how best to cluster young people and families accessing CAMHS in order to inform a payment system that links need, with resource usage and positive outcomes. This is likely to involve the development of an algorithm and input into the development of approaches and/or tool(s) to allow this to happen in routine clinical practice. They will also contribute to the development of guidance materials and training resources and potentially software specifications to support implementation. They will also advise on the necessary dataset elements to support this work.
The post holder will have overall responsibility for the development of the clustering tool and associated guidance within the project. They will supervise other members of the PbR analytic and data collection team and take overall responsibility for all aspects of data analytics and data collection. The post-holder will play a significant role in reporting to Department of Health and other reporting bodies. The role will involve close working with the core senior project team consisting of the overall Project Manager (Dr Melanie Jones) and the Project Strategic Leads (Dr Miranda Wolpert, Professor Panos Vostanis). This post offers a great opportunity to join the project group at a really exciting stage and become centrally involved in the consideration of data and development of guidance in this interesting area of service and policy development within the NHS.
We are looking for someone with a strong academic background, in a relevant field, with an interest in modelling complex routinely collected data to inform public spending decision making, and with experience of the challenges this brings, e.g. data completeness and quality issues. This post would suit someone with a commitment to improving public services who ideally brings extensive experience of statistically modelling healthcare data, and interest in developing guidance to inform commissioning, service development or policy decisions. Excellent leadership and organisational skills, the ability to problem solve, challenge, prioritise and manage multiple tasks are essential. The post holder will also need to be an excellent communicator, both written and oral, and be able to confidently write reports, and present to and train wide groups of audiences, including clinicians, service managers and data managers.
The post would be based within the Evidence Based Practice Unit which is a lively research and improvement group.
The Anna Freud Centre values diversity and aims to have a workforce that reflects this. We encourage applications from all sections of the community.
