The Economics Research Center at the University of Chicago, in collaboration with the University of Bonn and University College Dublin, is seeking Postdoctoral Scholars to work with Professor James Heckman on research related to the economics of human development, with a particular focus on the developmental origins of health.

We are seeking PhD economists (or those with a doctorate in a closely related field) who have demonstrated interest and competence in health economics, labor economics, and/or econometrics. Applicant must have strong empirical skills, training in quantitative methods, and experience with large data sets. Familiarity with the technology of skill formation research in Cunha and Heckman (JHR 2008; JEEA 2009) and the work of Cunha, Heckman, and Schennach is essential. Experience with health and human development data sets is required. Applicants should also have demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, as the position will require playing a leadership role in the project(s), and supervising graduate, undergraduate, and full-time research assistants.

Work will focus on human development from conception through adulthood and the effectiveness of interventions on all age groups. Unique data sets on long-term experimental evaluations are available. Aspects of health, cognitive, and non-cognitive/socioemotional skills will also be studied.

The position offers salary, commensurate with skills and training, as well as health insurance, and opportunities for travel to present and/or collaborate. Term and start date negotiable.
