Fixed Term Research Assistant / Officer

Research Grade 7 £27,047- £30,424 per annum (pro-rata if part time)
Research Grade 8 £31,331 per annum (pro-rata if part time) both post with USS Pension benefits, if required.

Applicants are invited for the position of Fixed Term Research Assistant/Officer in the College of Science, reference AC00320. This is a fixed term post between 1st June 2013 until 30th June 2015.

This research vacancy will allow the post holder to assist in research and project management for the Biocontrol and Natural Products project.

The successful candidate will be required to;

1. To assist the Coordinator of the Biocontrol and Natural Products (BANP) in his research activities.
2. To help design and conduct laboratory and field-based experiments with the aim of developing integrated pest management programmes exploiting biological control agents, semiochemicals and synthetic pesticides.
3. To assist in elucidating the fundamental mechanisms of synergies between the IPM components
4. To assist in risk assessment of the products and strategies
5. To ensure materials for studies are prepared and deployed on a timely basis
6. To execute experiments/trials in a timely manner and in compliance with EPPO/ORETO guidelines.
7. To assist in project management to ensure successful delivery of outputs

The post is offered as a variable grade where candidates who demonstrate higher skill levels may be considered for the Officer post.
