Sustainable Energy Research Group (SERG), Energy and Climate Change Division
The position carries the following responsibilities:
- Research and coordination of the Energy for Development (E4D) project as well as other research projects within the Sustainable Energy Research Group (SERG) and the Energy and Climate Change Division within the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment (www.energy.soton.ac.uk). This includes identifying and researching relevant issues related to E4D, coordination of documentation that may involve the procurement, construction and commissioning phases of projects, general liaising with project partners as well as the production and editing of print and online media.
- Research and coordination related to marine energy including the European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference (EWTEC) secretariat’s activities, coordinating the conference proceedings, support of the Executive Committee and web-portal management. You would also assume an advisory and supporting role to the current and future EWTEC hosts in terms of technical paper submission coordination and web-portal affairs.
- Website management of various web-portals connected with SERG. This includes website development, content creation and editing, design changes and addition of functional features.
- Depending on your background, active participation in scientific research within the framework of SERG is a possibility.
- General support of the line manager through factual research on a variety of renewable energy and energy efficiency topics.
The above may require travel within the UK and overseas at short notice.
Required skills:
A background in the fields of renewable energy, engineering or physical sciences is required. The majority of web-related activities will be carried out using Wordpress and website development experience is desirable, although some training can be provided. You should be well organised, resourceful, have good people skills and must be able to work well in a team environment.
The successful candidate is likely to be appointed initially at £27,854, depending on level of skills and experience.
