Salary from £26,846 – £31,074 per annum inclusive
The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the foremost social science universities in the world. The Library of LSE provides one of the best social science collections in any university – supporting the research and teaching of LSE as well as opening its doors to the wider world.
This is a very exciting time for LSE Library with the development of our digital library to acquire, preserve and provide access to digital collections, the introduction of the Women’s Library @ LSE - Europe’s largest collection of material relating to the lives of women, together with a building modernisation project to enable the library to grow and flourish. This is an opportunity to be an integral part of our key communications functions during an exciting period of change.
We are seeking a confident, enthusiastic and experienced communicator with excellent media relations and networking skills to support our team of information professionals, by managing a range of communication activities designed to promote our services and engage our stakeholders with developments in library services.
You will proactively seek opportunities to promote library services, working closely with library managers and the LSE Press Office, whilst supporting the Departmental Manager with internal communications initiatives.
You will be a key member of our new web team which oversees our digital presence, responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of content and working closely with the User Experience Architect to develop compelling ways of engaging Library users. You will also be responsible for developing and managing the Library’s social media presence, fitting an appropriate use and oversight of these channels into the Library’s emerging web strategy.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have strong IT skills and experience of editing websites. You must have strong customer services skills, with time spent in a higher education or research environment being an advantage. Excellent communication skills and the flair for presenting complex issues in an engaging way clearly, succinctly, and entertainingly where appropriate, are essential.
You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and assertively with a wide range of people from different professional backgrounds. You will need to demonstrate your ability to react calmly to problems and take ownership of initiatives to ensure effective delivery.
