This is a fixed term 36 month contract until 30 June 2016 (presuming a start date of 1 July 2013).

As a Research Technician in the Structure & Motion Lab, you will support comparative biomechanics research investigating the evolution of land-based locomotion in bony animals with limbs (tetrapods).

This project is funded by the NERC and is led by Prof. John R. Hutchinson, in collaboration with Dr. Stephanie Pierce (RVC) as well as Prof. Jenny Clack (Cambridge) and Dr. Nadja Schilling (Univ Hanover, Germany), along with other collaborators.

You will assist all stages of the research. This includes handling of experimental animals (e.g. salamanders). Skills in biomechanical gait analysis and/or 3D visualization of anatomy (e.g. segmenting medical imaging scans in Mimics, Amira or other packages; and 3D modeling in Maya/3DSMax) are essential to the project.

You should have enthusiasm for research, a science-related degree or HND/HNC and experience in biomechanics, palaeontology, scientific illustration or engineering. You must be willing to work with live animals.
