Salary £20,000 to £26,000 per annum, dependent on experience (a higher salary may be offered depending on experience and higher qualifications)

The Department of Engineering and Mathematics at the University is seeking to appoint a recent graduate as a KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) Associate in collaboration with Rollem Patent Products Ltd.

This is a great opportunity to participate in an exciting major project to introduce and embed state-of-the-art  electronic control systems and apply to the design of integrated print finishing machines for web-to-print  applications. Rollem designs and builds bespoke machines to a very high standard and has multi-national clients across the globe; more details can be viewed at www.rollem.com.

Applicants should have at least a 2(i) honours degree in Electronic Engineering with content in the design of control systems and real-time software development. Some relevant industrial experience would also be desirable. A higher degree incorporating some of these topics would be desirable. You must be self-motivated, have excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills and also be able to work effectively as part of a team.

You will be based at the company site, working directly with the company Managing Director and Senior Electrical Engineer, receiving additional mentoring support from expert University staff. The role requires commitment to travel in pursuance of the programme objectives, between the company and the University, as well as travel in Europe and North America.

The appointment offers significant opportunities for extensive personal development, including registration for a higher degree at no personal cost, mentoring for Chartered Engineer status and further project-specific training as required. Although the appointment is initially for 30 months, it is intended that a permanent position will be available within the company on completion.
