The University seeks to appoint two Teaching Fellows within the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology to start on 1 October 2013 (or as soon as possible thereafter), both fixed term contract with one ending 19 December 2014 and the other ending 30 September 2015 to cover the absence of two current members of staff with the department.
One successful candidate will be expected to teach an introductory course on biological anthropology to first-year undergraduates; a unit on the successful candidate's own research interests to either second- or third-year undergraduates; to co-teach a unit on current issues in biological anthropology to third-year undergraduates; to co-teach a unit on anthropological research methods to MA students in anthropology.
The other successful candidate will be expected to teach a unit on kinship in anthropology to first-year students; a unit on contemporary theory in social anthropology to second-year undergraduate students; a unit on the successful candidate's own research interests in social anthropology to second-year undergraduates; to co-teach a unit on anthropological research methods to MA students in anthropology; to co-teach a unit on contemporary issues in social anthropology to MA students in anthropology.
For both candidates, additional responsibilities include office hours, pastoral duties, dissertation supervision at UG and MA level and the marking of student formative and summative assessments as appropriate.
As this is a research-led department, preference will be given to candidates who show the potential for international reputation in research and publication. Bristol University will also be the host of the 2014 European Human Behaviour & Evolution Association Conference, so there is a chance to become involved in its organisation.
