Please be advised that this post is fixed term for 12 months.
The Community and Health Research Unit (CaHRU) is led by Professor Niroshan Siriwardena and is based in the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Lincoln. We undertake independent empirical and operational research relating to quality improvement in health and social care. Our research has had an important influence on policy and clinical and operational practice in the UK and beyond, working in the fields of adult and children’s health and social care including: evidence-based treatment; clinical and social outcomes; and quality and cost-effectiveness evaluation.
We are inviting applications for a research fellow in health economics to support our expanding programme of health economics research. This will include identifying, measuring and analysing health economic outcomes across European (FP7) projects (e.g., long-term conditions, quality in primary care) as well as high profile National research programmes funded through a wide range of organisations including the UK Research Councils, the National Institute of Health Research, the Health Foundation and a number of charitable trusts and private corporations.
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in health economics or related discipline. They will have experience of: developing models in economic evaluations; analyses of cost and outcome data alongside trials and evaluations; familiarity with large databases (e.g., HES, BHPS, ELSA) and excellent knowledge of statistical packages commonly used in economic evaluations (e.g., STATA).
The post is an exciting opportunity for an early career researcher to establish an international reputation in applied, policy relevant, health economics research. Alternatively, it is an opportunity for a more established researcher to embed their research in a dynamic and small but growing team of academic staff committed to the evaluation of health and social care quality and outcomes.
Closing date: 27 May 2013.
