Founded in 1898, LSTM became the first institution in the world dedicated to research and teaching in tropical medicine and that commitment continues today with a translational research portfolio of £192 million and a teaching programme attracting students from over 50 countries. In order to sustain this pledge we require a well maintained, fit for purpose estate, comprising of old and new buildings, including the £23M state of the art Centre for Tropical and Infectious Diseases research facility which opened in 2007.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Facilities Manager to have responsibility for the day to day operational management of the support services which includes areas of work such as; reception, cleaning, security and logistics. You will also undertake responsibility of being the Fire Safety Officer and will provide specialist and professional assistance as required by both internal and external clients.

You will be responsible for the management of outsourced services (housekeeping and security) and will be required to have exceptional communication skills as you will liaise with managers from across LSTM regarding the provision of; conferencing, accommodation and excellent delivery of customer service to staff, students and visitors.

The post will require the following skills and experience:-

- Proven experience in a relevant supervisory position with responsibility for delivering a customer focused facilities management service within a large organisation

- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and Environment Legislation relating to the built environment

- Experience of preparing and writing reports/ statements

A recognised qualification in a facilities management discipline is essential as is strong evidence of current and continuing professional development. It is essential that you hold a valid first aid certificate and possess NEBOSH H&S certificate (Fire or General)
