University of Dundee -Life Sciences Research

Grade 7 (£29,541 - £36,298)

A post-doctoral position is available in Professor Tomo Tanaka’s lab for up to 3 years to study chromosome segregation and the cell cycle using vertebrate cells (chicken DT40 and mammalian cells), in collaboration with the lab of Dr Helfrid Hochegger (University of Sussex). The project will exploit our expertise in advanced high-resolution fluorescence microscopy. Recent publications from our lab include Nature 434, 987 (2005); Cell 125, 1297 (2006); Genes Dev 21, 3319 (2007); Dev Cell 18, 248 (2010), Dev Cell 19, 232 (2010) and Dev Cell 21, 920 (2011). For more publications, search PubMed for Tanaka TU.

An applicant must have a PhD with research experience in using tissue culture cells and in molecular biology (such as plasmid construction). Experience of a genome-editing technique using chicken DT40 cells or mammalian cells (e.g. with TALE or Zinc Finger nuclease) will be highly appreciated. The post-doctoral fellows taking up this position will be based in the well-equipped laboratory of the Centre for Gene Regulation and Expression at the University of Dundee.
