The Role

This new role in our newly established School of Psychology, Criminology and Sociology is a great opportunity for a senior academic with an excellent international research profile in criminology. You’ll shape the strategic development of the Department as you take the lead on strengthening international research and educational partnerships while providing intellectual inspiration to students and staff. At the same time, you’ll contribute to teaching, supervise postgraduate research students, and continue your high profile publications record.

The Person

Esteemed at national and international level in the field of social policy, you will have a doctoral qualification in criminology or a closely cognate area together with a proven track record of distinguished international research. Your experience will include providing sound academic leadership, attracting external research funding, and working collaboratively with policy-based organisations and practitioners. Articulate and self-assured, you will also bring expertise in teaching and mentoring undergraduates, postgraduates and early career staff, working across disciplinary boundaries, and communicating with public audiences.

Known for its vibrant environment, the Department of Criminology & Sociology has an outstanding record for postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and engaging in research of international excellence. Alongside offering degrees in criminology, criminological psychology, cyber crime, sociology and applied social research, we offer degrees in collaboration with the School of Law and Forensic Science as well as CPD courses through our Centre for Abuse and Trauma Studies. Now, as we add new senior roles to our team, we look forward to an exciting future.
