Senior Lecturer in Primary Education (RE) and Liaison Tutor for School Direct
University of Winchester
£35,244 to £44,607 per annum
The Faculty of Education, Health and Social Care at Winchester has an excellent reputation for providing primary initial teacher education through undergraduate and post graduate provision. Our courses are rated as outstanding by OfSTED and operate through rich partnerships with schools and settings. We wish to appoint a colleague who will make significant contributions to the delivery and development of the University’s programmes in initial teacher education and professional learning in schools and other educational settings.
We are particularly looking for a candidate who can demonstrate expertise and experience in Religious Education. You will teach within the primary education teams, preparing undergraduate and postgraduate students for teaching across the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1 and 2, delivering CPD for teachers and contributing to teaching at masters level. Initial Teacher Education programmes offer both generic inputs on RE to all students and opportunities to specialise for groups of students. A substantial proportion of the post will be to participate in and develop external networks to build relationships for future collaboration. You will actively seek opportunities with partner schools and academies to develop School Direct partnerships, as well as developing and delivering professional learning and research opportunities with schools and other educational settings.
You will be passionate about education and committed to supporting teacher development. You will have track records of successful teaching in primary schools or Early Years settings, with recent experience of working either in the school environment as a skilled practitioner, a consultant or a lecturer in higher education, with the commitment and enthusiasm to communicate your knowledge effectively. You will hold a degree, qualified teacher status and, ideally, a higher qualification. The Faculty has a dynamic research and consultancy environment that generates support for innovative projects each year. The successful candidate will have a range of opportunities to develop research interests, to develop key areas of expertise into consultancy, and to maintain links with schools.
