MPhil/PhD Studentships

University of Roehampton -Business School

(1 full-time, 1 part-time)

As part of a continuing programme of expansion of its research activity, the University of Roehampton Business School is offering PhD studentships to well-qualified individuals, to start on 1 October 2013. Full-time PhD studentships will cover full fee-waiver, plus a bursary of £15,590 per annum, for three years. Fee-waiver studentships are available for part-time students.

A full-time studentship is available for three years and a part-time studentship for four years, subject to satisfactory progress.

The University is in south-west London. The thriving Business School has recently received considerable investment from the University, both in terms of new staff and research students.

We welcome applications for PhD research projects in areas related to existing research within the Business School:
1. Management and Work
2. Control, Accountability, Organisations and Society
3. Responsible Capitalism
4. Organising Creativity
5. Marketing, particularly service marketing

Applications are invited for PhD research projects in any of these areas. Please contact Dr Leonard Holmes in the first instance: leonard.holmes@roehampton.ac.uk, with brief outline of your proposed research project. Dr Holmes will provide further information and guidance, and put you in contact with appropriate prospective supervisors.

Successful applicants will:

  • Have a taught Masters degree, involving a dissertation of standard length written in English; we normally expect applicants to have gained at least merit level (or equivalent);
  • Have the potential to engage in innovative research and to complete the PhD within the specified length of time;
  • Be expected to become active members of the School’s academic community;
  • In the case of those for whom English is not the first language, have a minimum of English language proficiency (IELTS 7, or equivalent, in all skills).
