A Senior Lecturer to join the academic team on the renowned Automotive Design and Transport Design courses, located within the Department of Industrial Design in Coventry School of Art and Design. Coventry University is famous for its Automotive and Transport courses, from which graduates have progressed to occupy leading positions in design studios all over the world for 40 years. As a result of this, the courses have close connections with the motor industry. This involves regular contact with a long list of the leading companies in the UK and around the world, with a number of the most famous located within easy reach of the University in the West Midlands.
You will have experience as an automotive design professional in one or more design studios within the industry, an awareness of the current thinking and technologies that are underpinning activities. This must be combined with experience of teaching and education and knowledge of higher education processes, including provision of learning through lectures, module leadership and assessment for work at BA (Hons) and MA level. A wish to contribute to the futures of students by preparing them for successful careers in the automotive and transport industry is essential. The achievement and satisfaction of our students is our top priority.
You will possess strong skills and creativity to be able to teach and assess drawing, ideation and design activities appropriate to the subject. Knowledge of 3D CAD platforms including Alias, model-making and workshop practices including clay modelling for the design of exteriors and interiors of vehicles will also be an advantage. This is an important strategic position with the potential for Course Leadership.
