Fellow in Medical Education
University of Edinburgh -Centre for Medical Education
£37,382– £44,607 (pro rata for 14hrs per week)
This post offers a rare opportunity to make a major contribution to a core element of Edinburgh’s MBChB on a part-time basis. The Edinburgh MBChB has focussed attention on personal professional development (PPD) throughout the 5-year programme since 1998. The publication Tomorrow’s Doctors (GMC 2009) and recent University initiatives in personal tutoring and student support emphasise the importance of this domain in medical education. We wish to appoint an individual who has vision, energy and expertise and can take on the responsibilities of the deputy theme head to develop the curriculum, teach in this area and contribute to the work of the student support team.
The post will suit a medical practitioner wishing to pursue a career in medical education, a senior nurse or other healthcare professional with experience in education and/or training. You should have an MBChB or an equivalent degree in a health-care profession and, in addition, should have a higher degree and/or extensive experience in a relevant field within medical education. You will be based in the Centre for Medical Education, beside the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and will work with an energetic and collaborative team. There will be many opportunities for personal development within your field of responsibility.
Informal enquiries are encouraged. In the first instance please contact Ms Eileen Maguire, Centre for Medical Education, on 0131 242 6651 or e-mail Eileen.Maguire@ed.ac.uk).
