Lectureship in Modelling of Porous Media Processes
University of Abertay, Dundee -School of Contemporary Sciences
£37,382 - £44,607 (Grade 8)
The School of Contemporary Sciences of the University of Abertay Dundee Scotland wishes to strengthen its research through an appointment of a Lecturer to advance our research in modelling porous media processes. The successful candidate will join the SIMBIOS Centre which hosts a leading multidisciplinary research team combining soil biophysics and biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, mathematics, visualization and statistics. The Centre has two X-ray micro-CT systems and world leading expertise in the characterisation of porous media and soils in particular.
The candidate should be an experienced researcher with a track record of producing quality publications and be able to attract research funding. The candidate is expected to contribute to and complement the SIMBIOS research agenda, specifically to strengthen the Centre’s international reputation in porous media and soils research. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who can lead a program on physical and biological processes in porous media and in relating micro-scale processes to larger scale phenomena, but candidates with other expertise within this field are also encouraged to apply. Details about current research in the SIMBIOS Centre can be found at www.simbios.ac.uk.
You are expected to be able to work in an interdisciplinary research environment and foster interactions between theoretical and experimental scientists within SIMBIOS and other research groupings of the University. The post aims to strengthen the research agenda, but the successful candidate is also expected to contribute to teaching areas in the School including the development of MSc program.
For informal discussions about the post, please contact Prof. Wilfred Otten (w.otten@abertay.ac.uk) or Dr Ruth Falconer (r.falconer@abertay.ac.uk) of the SIMBIOS Centre, or Dr Nia White, Head of School (n.white@abertay.ac.uk).
You must apply via our online recruitment jobs board which can be found at http://www.abertay.ac.uk/jobs/ by clicking on the Apply button below.
The closing date for applications is 14 June 2013 and interviews are expected to take place the first week of July 2013.
