Robot Laboratory Technician

Applications are invited for the post of Robot Laboratory Technician in the Departments of Computer Science and Electronics.
The two departments have joint ownership of a Robotics Laboratory based on the University’s Heslington East campus. It is currently used by PhD students and post-doctoral students as well as undergraduate project students. A new taught postgraduate MSc in Autonomous Robotics Engineering is starting in October 2013 which will see use of the laboratory increase further, and which will require day-to-day hardware and software support from a dedicated technician.
You should have an HNC or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or a related subject, an excellent understanding of electronic components and technologies, and test and measurement equipment, as well as knowledge of software development using programming languages such as C, Java and C++. In addition to electro-mechanical skills, you should have an ability to repair and maintain standard laboratory equipment and experience of working in a technical support role.

Salary: £23,352 to £28,685. The post is available from August 1st 2013 for two years in the first instance.
