The visa team is a specialist support department for international students and university staff providing immigration related advice and information. The dedicated team provides a service to students before their arrival and throughout their studies, giving specialist comprehensive advice via workshops, one-to-one appointments and a drop-in service for more complex visa issues, in addition to a visa renewal service run in conjunction with the Home Office called the 'Batch Scheme'.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the provision of specialised advice and information to international students during their studies, delivered through appointments, workshops and drop-in sessions. The successful candidate will also be required to communicate with colleagues throughout the University regarding matters relating to students immigration circumstances and study, whilst adhering to mandatory professional standards. This role also serves to enhance the level of support offered to international students and to ensure a successful student experience at the University of Northampton.
You will be degree qualified or equivalent and have a sound knowledge of UK immigration advice and casework, particularly within the Points Based System. You will have strong analytical skills and excellent communication skills – both verbally and written.
The team are based at Park Campus and are available Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm (apart from university closures) to answer visa queries from prospective / registered international students and University Staff. This post may involve some evening and weekend work.
