Overview
Working primarily in the Biological Sciences subject areas within the Institute of Science and the Environment, the appointed person will support the teaching and research of staff and students, across all levels, in areas such as biology, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, genetics and nutrition.
The post includes ensuring laboratories are kept biologically and chemically clean and safe, maintaining laboratory equipment and chemical stores; demonstrating the use of equipment, techniques and methods; and supporting staff and students with research.
Some of the techniques currently used include PCR, DNA and protein gel electrophoresis, chromatography of various kinds, a range of other protein purification methods, some immunochemical methods, microscopy and sterile techniques.
