Our highly respected Food Safety platform provides scientific research facilities, consultancy services and testing laboratories to the food sector. We are looking for a Microbiology Research Manager who has a track record in food microbiology research, looking at various aspects of microbial physiology, microbial biofilms and their prevention and treatment practices. We have invested heavily in this area – a recent example is our new Pathogen Pilot Plant – designed to deliberately contaminate foods and food equipment in a safe environment to enable study of biofilms and optimum sanitisation techniques.

Our ideal candidate will be PhD qualified in Microbiology or a related field, having a strong understanding of the science underpinning applied food research involving microbiology. You will have solid people and project management skills, with experience of managing research projects and providing high quality scientific and technical advice. We are seeking a commercially-minded scientist with experience from industry, contract research laboratories or applied academia. You will be financially aware and have excellent communication and organisational skills.
