The Preliminary Year Programme is offered to students in their first year of study at UNNC and represents 120 academic credits. The programme is currently a 50-50 split between modules focusing on specific academic subjects and modules focusing on the development of English Language skills. Successful completion of the Preliminary Year is a pre-requisite for progression to the second year of study.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified teaching professionals able to offer experience and expertise in the area of Media & International Communications.

The successful candidate will have module convener responsibility for one or more taught modules and as such will be actively involved in issues around curriculum design, delivery and assessment. Depending of aptitude & experience there is also scope for involvement in managing projects such as the design and delivery of summer schools and other bespoke training packages.

Candidates should have a Bachelors’ degree in Media Studies, International Communications or a closely related field, recognised QTS (qualified teacher status) as evidenced by an appropriate PGCE or other professionally accredited qualification and have experience of full-time teaching in Media & International Communications at the secondary/post-secondary level.

Salary will be within the range RMB 399,474 - RMB 476,993 per annum, depending on skills and qualifications, salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. An attractive package, including accommodation allowance, flights and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

This post will be available from 2 September 2013 and will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of five years. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
