Salary range: Lecturer A: starting at £33,230 and rising to £36,298 per annum
Lecturer B: starting at £37,382 and rising to £44,607 per annum
Expected start date: 1 August 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter

The Sussex Energy Group (SEG) at SPRU is the UK’s largest independent energy policy research group and a core partner in the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and the UK Energy Research Centre. SEG wishes to appoint a highly motivated individual with suitable academic experience to contribute to its expanding postgraduate teaching in energy and climate policy. The post holder should have interests and expertise in the areas of the Group’s research and teaching activities, including energy policy, climate change policy, transitions to low carbon energy systems, low carbon development and energy technology innovation.

The successful candidate will have:

  • a PhD in a related area (e.g. economics, policy studies/political science, geography, science and technology policy studies, or similar)
  • a track record of high quality research in the area of energy and climate policy
  • teaching experience in energy and climate policy, including economics and innovation
  • enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment to working in an interdisciplinary, policy relevant field

 The appointment is permanent basis and the successful candidate will initially contribute to teaching and administration on the SPRU MSc in Energy Policy for Sustainability, the SPRU MSc in Science and Technology Policy and the MSc in Climate Change and Policy (jointly with the School of Global Studies) The successful candidate will also contribute to developing undergraduate teaching SEG and to the wide-ranging research, consultancy and stakeholder engagement activities of SEG.
