With over 28,000 students from 120 countries worldwide, the University of East London (UEL) is one of the UK’s most diverse and fast-growing universities. We are committed to the transformational opportunities that access to education offers to our students, many of who are from non-traditional backgrounds, and have invested heavily in their success, with recent investment of £170 million in state-of-the-art campus developments. UEL has a strong reputation for innovation and for our engagement with the social, cultural and economic development of Europe’s largest regeneration area, adjacent to the site of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. We are also highly-regarded for the quality of our research, with UEL rated within the top 10 modern universities in the 2008 RAE.
There are tremendous opportunities for UEL to continue to build on these developments and strengths, to shape a progressive and dynamic future. We are now seeking an exceptional individual to enable UEL to realise these as its next Vice-Chancellor, with overall responsibility for the leadership of the University and its strategy, and to act as a compelling advocate and representative for the institution to a wide range of stakeholders regionally, nationally and internationally.
Candidates for this critical role will bring passion, energy and a genuine commitment to the missions and values of UEL, with the ability to articulate an inspirational vision for the future direction of the University. An innovative and entrepreneurial senior leader, you will demonstrate proven delivery of successful change across large and complex organisations, and a strong understanding of the UK and international Higher Education landscape. As Vice-Chancellor, you will bring a transformative leadership approach that will motivate and inspire staff and students towards achieving UEL’s ambitions.
