We are seeking an outstanding, ambitious research technician to work with an internationally recognised team on the geochemical analysis of fossils: this will involve supporting a 3 year programme of research on “The geochemistry of fossil pigment preservation” as outlined by the NERC Standard Research Grant NEJ023426 and involving: preparation of extant specimens and fossil material for geochemical analyses; day-to-day running of the Williamson Research Centre based analyses/analytical equipment required for the research programme (XRF, XRD, (pyrolysis)GCMS, ESEM and FTIR), assisting with SRS-XRF and XANES analyses, interpreting & effective reporting of results and contributing to publications, reports and outreach events.
You will have, (or be about to obtain), a PhD in a relevant discipline, a strong background in the field of palaeontology including a demonstrable competence in the preparation of fossil material, strong laboratory skills and be an excellent communicator.
