Lecturer - Landscape/Ecosystem Modeller

The School of Environmental and Rural Science at UNE has an international reputation as a research-intensive education group, teaching agricultural and environmental science & management. The School has a long history of excellence through its degrees in Rural and Environmental Science and in teaching both in internal and external modes. The staff of the School is actively involved in education and research programs of several agricultural and environmental Cooperative Research Centres and are also well recognised by industry research funding bodies and breeding companies.

This full-time position is in the area of Landscape/Ecosystem Modelling and will link in with the current teaching and research programmes on-going within the School. A key skill base of the successful candidate will be proficiency in GIS related activities.

The main roles of the appointee are to actively contribute to postgraduate supervision and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in a range of subjects from introductory environmental science, to advanced GIS related subjects. The appointee will coordinate teaching units and develop teaching materials and contribute to curriculum development in the School. The appointee is expected to develop a strong research portfolio in the area of Landscape/Ecosystem Modelling.

Applicants must have a PhD, in environmental modelling, environmental science or a related discipline; teaching experience at the tertiary level, in a relevant area and a good publication track record is expected, relative to opportunity.

Salary: $80,513 to $95,421 per annum (Level B) plus 17% employer superannuation and optional salary packaging
