The University of Sheffield AMRC builds on the success of the original Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing, creating a cluster of industry-focused manufacturing R&D centres and supporting facilities. The AMRC with Boeing, established in 2001, has grown to become a world-leading centre of advanced machining and materials research for aerospace and other high-value sectors. It has around 70 industrial members, from global giants such as Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, to local small businesses.

The Nuclear AMRC, established in 2009, applies the same model of collaborative research to the nuclear supply chain. Members include Areva, Westinghouse, Rolls-Royce, Tata Steel and Sheffield Forgemasters. The AMRC group also includes Namtec, which provides training and consultancy to the manufacturing supply chain; the Knowledge Transfer Centre, a dedicated meeting, conference and training hub; and the new AMRC Training Centre, which will provide advanced apprenticeship and higher-level skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the curriculum development and delivery of the Engineering Training for Electronics/Electrical apprenticeship and technical pathways. In addition to this the post holder will also be required to conduct assessments both in the AMRC Training Centre and at Employers locations. You will also be expected to develop and support enrichment activities, STEM events to promote the AMRC Training Centre.

Ideally you should have a proven track record of delivery within an Employers Engineering Training Centre to enable the transfer of industry practices into the delivery of the AMRC Training Centre, or industry experience from an Electronics/Electrical perspective. Must have full knowledge of Apprenticeship Engineering Pathways, and how they are applied to industry. Knowledge of NVQ framework delivery and assessment criteria will be essential, along with an industrial background. Experience of delivering Electronics/Electrical pathways to a wide range of learners will be an advantage. A history of working with external customers and awarding bodies is also required for this role. Knowledge of the requirements of the Common Inspection Framework and experience of Ofsted inspections is essential for this role. The successful candidate would also be expected to support other trade areas if required, therefore additional skills and knowledge in other engineering disciplines would be an advantage.
