Full Time: The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £32,375 - £33,258 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Centre for Paediatric Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CPEB) is one of the largest of research units at UCL Institute of Child Health. Research groups at the CPEB conduct internationally recognised programmes of research under four main “vertical” themes: infections of the mother, her fetus and child; life course and intergenerational influences on health and disease; inherited, congenital and developmental disorders of the fetus and child; statistical approaches to the analysis of human growth and development. The post offers an excellent opportunity for a post-doctorate statistician to enhance their expertise in linkage of large administrative datasets for research and to gain experience in a variety of research environments. This linkage methodology project will be based on data from two large administrative datasets - Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) and LabBase2 (national infection surveillance) and will involve collaboration between UCL-ICH, Public Health England (PHE, formerly the Health Protection Agency), the University of Leeds and the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC).

The position is funded for until end of September 2014 in the first instance.

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in statistics or related subject and have experience of handling large, complex data sets using software packages such as R, Stata, SQL and SAS. Applicants must also have experience of writing papers for peer-reviewed journals, excellent written, verbal and computational skills and strong working knowledge of research methods in statistics and epidemiology.
