The Department of Communication, Business and Information Technologies at Roskilde University, Denmark, invites applications for a three-year assistant professorship position in Performance Design.
Performance Design
Performance Design is an interdisciplinary field that has analysis and design of performances as its object of study. Thus the field covers a broad range of performances: festivals, concerts, theatre, exhibitions, interactive installations, temporary spaces, games and event communication. The field has its roots in performance studies and cultural studies and is characterised by praxis-oriented research. The field has been made topical through increased aestheticisation in society as expressed in the experience economy.
Responsibilities and qualifications
As assistant professor, your main tasks will be research, teaching/supervision and dissemination. Applications can be made in all of the subject’s disciplines. We are interested in finding an assistant professor who can make a substantial contribution to the on-going development of Performance Design as a research subject and as a study programme at Roskilde University. You will be part of an all-round scientific environment characterised by openness and a broad theoretical and methodological diversity.
To be considered for the position, you must;
- have a PhD in a subject relevant to performance design or equivalent scientific qualifications;
- have experience with teaching and supervising at university level;
- possess research qualifications appropriate for a position at the level of assistant professor;
- have a command of spoken Danish (or Swedish/Norwegian) and of written Danish at a level sufficient to undertake teaching and supervision obligations (also related to project work) in Danish contexts and to participate in on-going administrative and collegial activities.
- master English at a level sufficient to undertake teaching and supervision obligations in English.
Command of another foreign language would be an advantage.
Appointment
The position is to be filled by 1st September 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment is limited to three years. The appointment will be in accordance with the employment agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, AC.
