The School of Arts and Cultures is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Media or Communication Studies in the dynamic and rapidly growing subject area of Media and Cultural Studies
The subject area offers the following degree programmes: BA (Hons) Media, Communication and Cultural Studies, MA Media and Journalism, MA Media and Public Relations and MA International Multi-media Journalism and contributes to the cross-disciplinary MA in Creative Arts Practice. The team also supervises a number of PhD students.
You will deliver existing modules on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as develop new modules in relevant areas on these programmes, supervise BA and MA dissertations, as well as doctoral students. You will further enhance the research and teaching profile of the group with expertise in any of areas of Media or Communication Studies, but particular interest in the following areas would be welcome: critical studies of the media; media/communication and television studies; media/television production; media ethics and legislation; critical engagement with and experience of media production and the media industries; audience studies; new media; research methods in media/communication studies.
You should have an established track record in research and teaching in the field of Media or Communication Studies. You will be expected to show evidence of existing research publications and a clear research trajectory that will contribute to a successful REF submission on Sub-panel 36: Communication, Cultural and Media Studies, Library and Information Management.
It is intended that the interviews will be held in June 2013
