The School of Biological Sciences, located within the College of Life Sciences and Medicine, is seeking two full-time Teaching Fellows. This is an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic higher education teaching specialists to join a vibrant and committed team of academic and support staff. The posts will be located in the Zoology Building adjacent to the Cruickshank Botanic Gardens in the historic environs of Old Aberdeen.
You will be expected to carry out duties in relation to the organisation and delivery of undergraduate teaching, fieldwork, student support, teaching initiatives and teaching administration. Candidates with expertise in more than one of the following subjects taught within the School would be particularly welcome: Zoology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences and Conservation.
You should have a PhD in an area of Biological Sciences relevant to the BSc courses delivered within the School, experience in teaching (including laboratory practicals) and a proven enthusiasm for teaching innovations and developments.
Although the major focus of this post is on teaching, the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop a research interest, either in their own discipline or in education.
Appointment will be made at the level commensurate with qualifications and experience and is available at the earliest mutually convenient date.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale (£30,424 - £36,298 per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience. Consideration will be given to making an appointment at Teaching Assistant, Grade 5 level in the first instance (salary range £25,504 - £28,685 per annum) for individuals in the final stages of completing their PhD.
