Post-Doctoral Research Associate
University of York -Departments of Chemistry and Physics
Ref 2968
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship to investigate free radical intermediates formed in cold plasmas and at the plasma-liquid interfaces. The project is funded by the Leverhulme Trust and will be jointly supervised by Dr Victor Chechik in the Department of Chemistry and Dr Deborah O’Connell in the Department of Physics, University of York.
The project will develop methodology for free radical detection in the gas phase and at gas/liquid interfaces. The analytical tools will include spin trapping and EPR spectroscopy. The project is very interdisciplinary and will involve some synthetic chemistry (e.g., preparation of new radical traps), spin trapping and EPR spectroscopy, HPLC and mass spectrometry, mechanistic chemistry of free radical intermediates.
Informal enquiries may be made by email to: victor.chechik@york.ac.uk or deborah.oconnell@york.ac.uk.
Salary will be £29,541 per annum, and the post is available for a period of 3 years.
The Department of Chemistry holds an Athena SWAN Gold Award and is committed to supporting equality and diversity for all staff and students.
Closing date for applications: Monday 3 June 2013
