We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to perform cancer research in Professor Len Seymour's Medicinal Virology Research Group. The Group aims to develop new treatments for cancer, notably using molecular strategies to engineer cancer-killing viruses with improved potency, selectivity and ability to spread through solid tumours.

The Group promotes a strong interface between laboratory science and clinical application, and aims to identify promising virotherapy candidates to move forward for early phase clinical trial.

The post represents a mixture of research work and skilled technical support duties. You will be educated to A level or equivalent standard in a relevant discipline and have proven biomedical research laboratory experience. You should also have experience of experimental work using mice, including awareness of the current legislation.

Experience with viruses or gene delivery vectors is desirable, as is effective communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).

This is a full-time post and is offered until 30 September 2014 in the first instance.
