Full Time The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £32,375 to £39,132 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
We are seeking a Research Associate to work with Professor Dorian Fuller on the "Comparative Pathways to Agriculture (ComPAg) research program", a 5 year project funded by the European Research Council. The ComPAg research programme will produce the first global comparative synthesis of the convergent evolution of domesticated plants and early agricultural systems based primarily on empirical archaeobotanical data.
The principal duty and responsibility of the post will be carrying out archaeobotanical research on plant macro-remains, both in the field and laboratory, with a focus on eastern Asia and comparisons across Eurasia. The Research Associate will also be expected to coordinate taxon-based analyses with other research associates employed at UCL and visiting researchers collaborating with the ComPAg research programme.
The post is funded for 5 years in the first instance.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Archaeology with a background and field experience in archaeobotany and running field sampling programmes.
Laboratory experience in archaeobotany (macro-remains), and experience with the identification of Eurasian taxa is also essential.
