The department of Archaeology and School of Human and Environmental Sciences invites applications for a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Assistant with a strong background in Middle Eastern archaeology for a period of three years. The PDRA will be part of a large research team that is currently working on numerous Holocene archaeological sites in the Middle East and conducting palaeoclimate research on numerous sites and proxies across the region. The main objective of the ongoing research is to explore potential interrelationships between climate and societies over the course of the Holocene and the PDRA will integrate both cultural and climatic data in order to explore these further. Furthermore, the PDRA is expected to provide teaching assistance on modules relating to climate and societal changes in the Middle East.
You will have:
- PhD in Archaeology
- Good knowledge of the archaeology of the Middle East
- Experience in the use and development of databases
- Experience in the use of GIS systems
- Experience with evaluating archaeological data and chronologies
