The School of Clinical Medicine has a strategic intention to increase the direct therapeutic impact of its research activity on the development of new treatments for patients. To do this, the School is planning to substantially expand the portfolio of research projects that its investigators conduct in close partnership with major pharmaceutical companies such as GlaxoSmithKline.
We are seeking a senior and experienced administrator for the new role of Translational Medicine Programme Manager, which is designed specifically to coordinate and support academic/industrial partnerships between the School and its industrial partners.
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of autonomy and effectiveness in delivering complex research projects, supervising budgetary and contractual agreements, contributing to strategic planning, managing senior stakeholders, working across different organisational cultures, and communications. A track record of energetic and effective delivery of a portfolio of clinical research programmes and some experience of working with both public and private sector organisations are key requirements.
This important and innovative post has been assigned a senior grade and the post holder will report directly to Professor Ed Bullmore in the School of Clinical Medicine.
The post will be initially appointed for up to three years at the appropriate point on the University of Cambridge's salary scale, depending on the seniority of the successful candidate.
