The Role

The School Administration Manager will work alongside the Head of School to ensure that the School receives the best possible service from all internal and external service providers and will have responsibility for ensuring that effective controls are in place for example for the management of budgets with the Head of School retaining their responsibility as budget-holder. The post-holder will also be responsible for ensuring that their school is delivering the administrative requirements of the University.

Please note that as part of the selection process for this position you may be asked to attend an assessment centre. If you are invited to the assessment centre you may wish to research current events and information about the UK Higher Education sector.

The Person

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual who has experience of administration and a sound understanding of Higher Education.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent management and leadership skills and have experience of managing staff. They must also be able to show knowledge of current issues in Higher Education.

You must be self-motivated and efficient, with a high attention to detail and well developed analytical skills. Excellent communication skills are essential for this post, as is the ability to work as an individual and in a team, and have excellent project and time management skills. We also require good general IT skills.

The School of Music and Fine Art

The School of Music and Fine Art will formally come into existence on the 1st of August 2013. Previously the two departments which will form the new School were part of the School of Arts, one of the largest schools within the University of Kent. In recognition of the School of Arts’ successes, standing and desire to expand its areas of activity, the University placed the growth of its creative arts provision at the centre of its strategy for the development of the Medway campus. The strategy for growth included expanding the existing departments of Fine Art and Music, introducing new programmes in these areas, and developing new cutting-edge facilities to support these programmes and the students enrolled upon them.
