Awards and Systems Officer (Awards and Conferments Team)
Manchester Metropolitan University -Student Administration
FULL-TIME PERMANENT
Grade 6: £24,049 - £27,047 per annum
Manchester Metropolitan University is one of the UK's largest and most popular Universities. We are the University for World Class Professionals.
Applications are invited for the post of Awards and Systems Officer in the Central Conferments Team. Working with the Awards and Conferments Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the management of university-level student data that supports the production of certificates, the verification of awards and provision of graduation services including the staging of degree ceremonies. In addition, the post holder will make a substantial contribution to systems developments to support other student lifecycle processes, particularly those that draw on student assessment data. Conferments and Graduation Services is an increasingly automated area of work that generates income for the University. Graduation is an important rite of passage, so students and their families have a very high expectation of the standard of service they will receive. The post-holder will have a significant role in assisting the Manager to orientate the work of the Team towards Customer Service Excellence standards. S/he will also be expected to use the opportunities of web-based and social networking technologies to enhance the speed, accuracy and user-friendliness of the services provided to students.
This post provides an excellent opportunity for the right person to work both back office and face-to-face to enhance customer service through the creative application of information and communication technologies.
Although this is not an IT technician post, the successful candidate needs to be able to work confidently and effectively in an environment of complex business systems and large databases, and to be able to communicate user requirements to technical staff. S/he will be able to analyse administrative processes and help produce specifications for IT-based systems that will support and enhance those processes.
Of equal importance are excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals both inside and outside the University, to empathise with students and their parents and to demonstrate an ability for continuous improvement of customer service.
