The MRC Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) is a large, internationally renowned centre of excellence for the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials, meta-analyses and epidemiological studies, with a particular emphasis on developing and exploiting novel clinical trial methodology to increase the speed, efficiency and reliability of clinical trials and related research.
The Cancer group at MRC Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) is responsible for planning, management, statistical coordination and analysis of large scale, randomised, often international clinical trials and trials programmes, prioritising those that will have a major impact on clinical practice, and/or using novel trial designs and conduct more generally.
We are seeking additional high calibre, innovative senior staff with substantial experience of clinical trials and expertise in one or more of the various disciplines relevant to cancer clinical research, including medicine (particularly clinicians interested in a 2-3 year out-of-programme experience), biostatistics and epidemiology.
Appointments may be at either of two senior levels: Band 2 or 3. All staff at either level input into the scientific direction of the trials programmes, actively shaping and driving development of funding proposals, study protocols and scientific publications, and liaise closely with other clinical epidemiologists, biostatisticians, oncologists and others in prioritising work and planning future strategy. Band 3 staff will take day to day responsibility for the delivery of a small number of trials under the leadership of a Band 2, and with specific responsibilities according to their specialty; Band 2 staff take responsibility for the strategic leadership of a group of trials ensuring they meet the MRC and CTU strategic aims.
Salary is dependent on previous experience and includes Location Allowance and Central London Supplement. Benefits include 30 days annual leave per year and a contributory pension scheme. The post is available immediately.
